As part of their community outreach initiative, Cambridge design and fit out company, COEL carried out works on the refurbishment of the washroom facilities at Comberton Playgroup, during the Easter break. Having first opened our doors in 1969, in the old village school buildings, the Playgroup is this year celebrating our 50th Anniversary and have been rallying for support as we look to improve our facilities. First on the list of improvements is vital work to the washroom facilities in order to make the space fully insulated, more energy efficient and a more pleasant space. A new suspended and fully insulated ceiling will be installed across the WC block, secondary glazing will be installed and new heating fitted. This will be the start of a series of planned works at our childcare facility, for which we are currently fundraising.
Comberton Playgroup Chair of Trustees, Gareth Lane, states: “Comberton Playgroup is a charity and balancing our desire to provide affordable early years education for all with the rising costs of maintaining an ageing property is increasingly difficult. We are thrilled that the team at COEL recognised the good work we are doing, caring for children across the local community, and have agreed to carry out much of the work as part of their community outreach programme, helping us immensely. Our objective is to provide the best opportunities and care for the children, at a cost that is accessible for everybody. We are all too aware of the challenges faced by many families of rising childcare costs, so we offer the government funded 30 hours to all families, across all of our sessions. We are very much looking forward to the children returning after the Easter break to see their new and improved facilities!”
“COEL takes our involvement with the local community very seriously” says Director of Sales and Marketing for COEL, Barnaby Clark. “We have been providing design and fit out services throughout Cambridge for the past 30 years and are happy to help a worthy cause. The area that we will be upgrading currently has a lack of insulation and insufficient heating. The work we will be doing will be a vast improvement and create a warm, comfortable space for the staff and children, that will now be fit for purpose. A very worthy upgrade for the Playgroup’s 50th Anniversary”.
Works will commenced at Comberton Playgroup on Tuesday 9th April and were completed prior to the start of the Summer term on Tuesday 23rd April.
